Happy New Year! Happy 2013!
Winter Wonderland - Bing Crosby
Sleigh bells ring, are you listenin’
In the lane, snow is glistenin’
A beautiful sight, we’re happy tonight
Walking in a winter wonderland
Gone away is the bluebird
Here to stay is a new bird
He sings a love song, as we go along
Walking in a winter wonderland
In the meadow we can build a snowman
And pretend that he is Parson Brown
He’ll say, “Are you married?”
We’ll say, “No man”
But you can do the job, when you’re in town
Later on, we’ll conspire
As we dream by the fire
To face unafraid, the plans that we’ve made
Walking in a winter wonderland
Sleigh bells ring, are you listenin’
In the lane, snow is glistenin’
A beautiful sight, we’re happy tonight
Walking in a winter wonderland
Gone away is the bluebird
Here to stay is a new bird
He sings a love song, as we go along
Walking in a winter wonderland
In the meadow we can build a snowman
And pretend that he’s a circus clown
We’ll have lots of fun with Mister Snowman
Yes, until the other kiddies knock him down
Later on,we’ll conspire
As we dream by the fire
To face unafraid, the plans that we’ve made
Walking in a winter wonderland
Walking in a winter wonderland
Mele Kalikimaka - Bing Crosby & The Andrews Sisters
(Bing Crosby)
Mele Kalikimaka is the thing to say
On a bright Hawaiian Christmas Day
That’s the island greeting that we send to you
From the land where palm trees sway
Here we know that Christmas
Will be green and bright
The sun to shine by day
And all the stars at night
Mele Kalikimaka is Hawaii’s way
To say Merry Christmas to you
(The Andrews Sisters)

Peace On Earth / Little Drummer Boy (Medley) - Bing Crosby and David Bowie
(Dialogue until 2:00 min. mark, then song begins)
David: Hello…… you the new butler?
Bing: Hahaha! Well, it’s been a long time since I’ve been the new anything!
David: What’s happened to Hudson?
Bing: I guess he’s changing.
David: Yeah, he does that a lot, doesn’t he? Uhm… Oh, I’m David Bowie, I live
down the road.
Bing: Oh!
David: Sir Percival let’s me use his piano when he’s not around. He’s not around, is
he?
Bing: I can honestly say I haven’t seen him, but come on in! Come on in!
David: But uh…
Bing: Come on in!
David: Are you related to sir Percival?
Bing: Well, distantly…
David: Oh, you’re not the poor relation from America, right?
Bing: Ha! Gee… news sure travels fast, doesn’t it? I’m Bing.
David: Oh, I’m pleased to meet you. You’re the one that sings, right?
Bing: Well, right or wrong, I sing either way.
David: Oh well, I sing too.
Bing: Oh good! What kind of singing?
David: Mostly the contemporary stuff. Do you uh… do you like modern music?
Bing: Oh, I think it’s marvellous! Some of it really fine. But tell me, have you ever listened to any of the older fellows?
David: Oh yeah, sure. I like ah… John Lennon and the other one with eh…Harry
Nielson.
Bing: Mmm… you go back that far, huh?
David: Yeah, I’m not as young as I look.
Bing: Haha, none of us is these days!
David: In fact I’ve got a six year old son. And he really gets excited around the Christmas holiday-thing.
Bing: Do you go in for any of the traditional things in the eh Bowie household, Christmas time?
David: Oh yeah, most of them really. Presents, a tree, decorations, agents sliding down the chimney…
Bing: What??
David: I was just seeing if you were paying attention.
Bing: Haha!
David: Actually, our family do most of the things that other families do. We
sing the same songs.
Bing: Do you?
David: Oh, I even have a go at ‘White Christmas’.
Bing: You do, uh!
David: And this one. This is my son’s favourite. Do you know this one?
Bing: Oh, I do indeed, it’s a lovely thing.
Come they told me pa-rum-pum-pum-pum
A new-born king to see pa-rum-pum-pum-pum
Our finest gifts we bring pa-rum-pum-pum-pum
Rum-pum-pum-pum, rum-pum-pum-pum
Come they told me pa-rum-pum-pum-pum
A new-born king to see pa-rum-pum-pum-pum
Our finest gifts we bring pa-rum-pum-pum-pum
to lay before the king pa-rum-pum-pum-pum
Rum-pum-pum-pum, rum-pum-pum-pum
so to honour him pa-rum-pum-pum-pum
when we come
Little baby pa-rum-pum-pum-pum
I stood beside him there pa-rum-pum-pum-pum
I played my drum for him pa-rum-pum-pum-pum
I played my best for him pa-rum-pum-pum-pum
Rum-pum-pum-pum, rum-pum-pum-pum
And he smiled at me pa-rum-pum-pum-pum
me and my drum
Peace on Earth, can it be
Years from now, perhaps we’ll see
See the day of glory
See the day, when men of good will
Live in peace, live in peace again
Peace on Earth, can it be
Every child must be made aware
Every child must be made to care
Care enough for his fellow man
To give all the love that he can
I pray my wish will come true
For my child and your child too
He’ll see the day of glory
See the day when men of good will
Live in peace, live in peace again
Peace on Earth, can it be
Can it be
Bing: Pretty thing, isn’t it?

White Christmas (1947) - Bing Crosby
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas,
Just like the ones I used to know.
Where the tree-tops glisten,
And children listen
To hear sleighbells in the snow.
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas,
With every Christmas card I write,
“May your days be merry and bright,
And may all your Christmases be white”.
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas,
Just like the ones I used to know.
Where the tree-tops glisten,
And children listen
To hear sleighbells in the snow.
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas,
With every Christmas card I write,
“May your days be merry and bright,
And may all your Christmases be white”.
In the Cool, Cool, Cool of the Evening - Bing Crosby & Jane Wyman
In the cool, cool, cool of the evening
Tell ‘em I’ll be there
In the cool, cool, cool of the evening
Save your pappy a chair
When the party’s getting a glow on
And singin’ fills the air
In the shank of the night
When the doin’s are right
Well you can tell em I’ll be there
I like a barbecue
I like to boil a ham
And I vote for bouillabaisse stew
What’s that?
I like a weenie bake, steak and a layer cake
And you’ll get a tummy ache too
We’ll rent a tent or a teepee
Let the town crier cry
“All’s well!”
And if it’s RSVP
This is what I’ll reply
In the cool, cool, cool of the evening
Tell ‘em we’ll be there
If you need a pair of freeloaders
To fracture your affair
I may even give them Pagliacci
Now stand back and give him air
If one can relax and we’ll have a few yaks
And you can tell them we’ll be there
“Oui,” said the bumblebee
“Let’s have jubilee.”
“When?” said the prairie hen, “Soon?”
“Sure,” said the dinosaur
“Where?” said the grisly bear
“Under the light of the moon.”
“How about your brother, jackass?”
Everyone gaily cried
“Are you coming to the fracas?”
Ain’t gonna blow it
“And all the respects,” he sighed
In the cool, cool, cool of the evening
Tell ‘em I’ll be there
In the cool, cool, cool of the evening
Slickum on my hair
If perchance we look a bit peeked
Remember c’est la guerre
If we’re still on our feet
And there’s something to eat
Well you can tell them we’ll be there
In the cool, cool, cool of the evening
Tell ‘em I’ll be there
In the cool, cool, cool of the evening
Better save a chair
When the party’s getting a glow on
And singin’ fills the air
If there’s gas in my hack
and my laundry is back
If there’s room for one more
And you need me
Why sure
If you need a new face or a tenor or base
If I can climb out of bed and put a hat on my head
Well you can tell ‘em we’ll be there.
